Ebola (Bundibugyo virus), DR Congo
Now the second-largest Ebola outbreak on record, across seven DRC provinces. Deaths passed 4,000 on 2 October. North Kivu is the fastest-growing front, with nearly 40% of new confirmed cases and not enough treatment beds. There is no approved vaccine or treatment for Bundibugyo virus.

Cholera, global
WHO reports cholera deaths rose 30% in 2025 even as reported cases fell; the 7,870 deaths were the most since 1999. Angola, Bangladesh, DRC, Nigeria, South Sudan, Sudan and Yemen accounted for about 90% of cases and deaths.
Dengue, global
About 1.6 million cases and over 700 deaths from 89 countries in January–June 2026, fewer than in 2024, but Sri Lanka and Cambodia have large outbreaks.
Wild poliovirus
Transmission persists only in Afghanistan (23 cases in 2026) and Pakistan (3), with 203 positive environmental samples between them.
Mpox, global
185,565 confirmed cases from 145 countries between 2022 and 30 June 2026. Clade Ib keeps seeding new countries; Canada reported a locally acquired clade Ib case in July.
